Giving Back with Samaritan's Purse

As a family and a company, we believe in Giving Back. We have personally supported Samaritan’s Purse for many years because their core values have aligned so strongly with our own family values of Faith, Family & having a Heart for Others who are in need.

For over 50 years, Samaritan’s Purse has literally traveled the globe giving support and medical help to some of the most needy people across the world – from large cities to the most remote villages worldwide, all while sharing the good news about the gospel. Their mission statement is:

“Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.”

This is a powerful, caring organization that most of us have heard about but may have never really taken the time to understand just how much great work they do around the globe. The money we give back helps to equip Samaritan’s Purse with many of the valuable resources they need to accomplish their goals. This includes personnel, support services, buildings, materials and equipment to fulfill their mission of relief and evangelism worldwide.

International Crisis Response

Specializing in meeting critical needs for victims of conflict, disaster, famine, and epidemics throughout the world, Samaritan’s Purse provides food, water, shelter, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Some of their latest efforts included being on the front lines during the Covid 19 crisis: Setting up tent hospitals in New York City, airlifting supplies to Nepal and responding to the outbreak in India with food and medical supplies have been just a few of their projects during this worldwide pandemic.

Medical care to at-risk mothers and their children around the world is a big priority for Samaritan’s Purse. Currently in Colombia, many are Venezuelan women who’s lives have been disrupted and are ‘on the move’ caused by the current crisis in their country are being helped by the medical clinics, food distribution and shelters provided.

Samaritan’s Purse calls them ‘Warrior Mothers’ as these women are tenacious at providing the best love and care possible for their children in a trying and painful time.

Disaster Relief in the U.S. and Abroad

Every year Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes staff, equipment and thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of floods, wildfires, tornadoes and hurricanes often staying behind after their initial response to rebuild or restore houses for needy families in the area all while sharing the Love of God to these families.

Operation Heal Our Patriots

Did you know that according to the United States Department of Defense, over 50,000 of our service members have been wounded as a result of combat in the ongoing global war on terror since the 9/11 attacks? These men and women carry visible wounds and when those wounds you cannot see such as post-traumatic stress disorder are counted in, that number more than doubles!

Samaritan’s Purse recognizes that for these wounded patriots and their spouses, the road to recovery is long and can be quite challenging for their marriages. Operation Heal Our Patriots gives these couples the opportunity for spiritual refreshment, physical renewal, and marriage enrichment in a week’s retreat in an Alaskan wilderness lodge. The couples participate in Biblically based seminars that help strengthen their relationships with God and others all while enjoying the beauty of God’s creations with amazing outdoor activities. All costs of the couples renewal retreat week are taken care of including flights to and from the event.

Children's Projects

“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14 ESV

Samaritan’s Purse has multiple programs to help children all over the world bringing them food, medical care and the love of Jesus. And if they can’t get the right medical care to the child… they take the child to the medical care (Children’s Heart Project)!

Operation Christmas Child and The Greatest Journey

Even though these are two individual programs of Samaritan’s Purse, we have put them together because ‘Operation Christmas Child’ can lead recipients of Christmas shoebox gifts to their ‘The Greatest Journey’!

Operation Christmas Child’s mission is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. All year long, young and old from around the world volunteer to collect items and make up shoeboxes that contain toys, clothing, school supplies and hygiene items. For many of the children who receive these shoeboxes, it is their first gift ever and with it, comes for them a very tangible expression of God’s love.

Just look at the expressions on the faces of these children!

Starting in 1993, there have now been more than 188 million children in more than 170 countries who have received a Christmas Gift Shoebox!

But the story continues because once a child receives this gift, many are invited back to participate in a discipleship program and those that accept the invitation start...

The Greatest Journey, a 12 lesson course that involves hearing Bible stories and Scripture memorization. More than anything, the children learn how to follow Jesus in their day to day lives and how to share Him with friends and family! More than 26.5 million children have enrolled in this program since 2009.

At the completion of their lessons, the kids attend a fun graduation celebration and receive a certificate and a Bible of their own. What a glorious day! Not only is it a day of celebration but a day of sharing the Gospel with all the friends and family that attended!

So, this is a glimpse into how Samaritan’s Purse ministers to and serves those who are hurting – spiritually, physically and emotionally. It is just a glimpse.

There is so much more we could share, but instead, we invite you to explore the Samaritan’s Purse website (www.SamaritansPurse.org). The more you check out their website, the more there is to see!

You might consider:

Becoming a contributor – they need financial donations for every project …. for staffing, equipment, supplies and more!
Becoming a volunteer – help is needed in every area, whether it’s packing a Christmas Shoebox, helping with reconstruction of homes, or helping in any area of their programs, there’s a place for you!

More than anything, pray for the ministry and those who are on the front lines every day helping those in need.

As for us here at UltimateCloth, we are thrilled to Give Back to this worthy organization with every purchase in 2022!
